EYE LEVEL ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO THINK CRITICALLY WITH NATIONAL CRITICAL THINKING CHALLENGE
Global Education Franchise Announces 2nd Year of Its Critical Thinking Math Competition for Children

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., February 8th, 2016 – Eye Level (www.myeyelevel.com), the global leader in self-directed learning, proudly announces the return of its newest math competition—the Critical Thinking Challenge! The Critical Thinking Challenge is a national event open to all individual students from 3rd to 6th grade, which encourages children to challenge themselves through applied, analytical, and abstract mathematical problems for a chance to win a regional Grand Prize of $1,000 (USD).
Registration is free and must be completed online (at criticalthinkingchallenge.com) between February 15th, 2016 and April 30th, 2016.

The competition will have two rounds:

• Preliminary Round: May 7th, 2016
o The Preliminary round will be held at local Eye Level Learning Centers. Participants will take a timed critical thinking test at the local center.
o A team will be formed from each learning center consisting of the two top performing students.

• Final Round: Hosted in 5 regions (NJ, GA, TX, IL, & CA)
o Dates are available online (criticalthinkingchallenge.com). Venues and times for each location will be announced online following the preliminary round.
o The teams will compete against each other in an elimination competition until only one team remains. There will be one Grand Prize winning team per region.

With the Critical Thinking Challenge, Eye Level hopes to promote the value and importance of problem solving and analytical skills that complement the often-tested calculation and arithmetic abilities. By focusing on problem solving and reasoning as a basis for the competition, Eye Level can encourage students to “think outside of the box” and hopefully bring a few newly learned skills from the Challenge back to their schoolwork.

The content of the competition is derived from Eye Level’s global math program. When a child studies math at an Eye Level center, they focus on two important components—Basic Thinking and Critical Thinking. By putting emphasis on problem solving and reasoning as well as on arithmetic, Eye Level strives to provide every student with a well-rounded math education that will set them up for future success as a lifelong learner.
